Art and Landscapes: Roberto Burle Marx retrospective in BerlinA retrospective on the work of Roberto Burle Marx (1909-1994) is due to open soon in Berlin to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Brazilian artist and landscape architect.
Titled Art and Landscapes and curated by Lauro Cavalcanti, the exhibition, which has already been shown at the Paço Imperial Centro Cultural do IPHAN in Rio de Janeiro and at the Museu de Arte Moderna in São Paulo, will provide an overview of the complex artistic work of Burle Marx, who is regarded as one of the greatest landscape architects of the 20th century and creator of the modern idiom in global landscape architecture.
Exhibits will include drawings and gouaches on his landscape architecture projects, sketches for set designs and costumes, paintings on canvas and fabric and numerous pieces of jewellery. A total of 123 private gardens and 117 public space projects will also be on view on three screens (photo: Garden Banco Safra - São Paulo 1983).
The exhibition starts on 8 December at 7 p.m. and ends on 6 February
